Christina Rees – MP for Neath – has urged constituents to seek out a HIV home test to find out their status. With an estimated 6,700 people living with HIV in the UK still undiagnosed, ending the stigma and fear often associated with testing for HIV is crucial and that is why Christina Rees MP is urging constituents to get hold of a home testing kit.
With all of us at home for lockdown now is a perfect time for people in Neath to order a home testing kit from bit.ly/HIVWales. The test is quick, easy and free.
The testing kit either involves sending a small blood sample in the post and getting a result within a few days, or doing the full test and getting a result within 15 minutes.
Christina Rees, MP for Neath, said:
“This week marks National HIV Testing Week 2021. It’s vitally important that we eliminate the stigma surrounding HIV and one of the best ways for us to do this is by ordering a HIV test.
“Sadly, 6,700 people in the UK are estimated to be living with HIV without a diagnosis. Lockdown brings with it many challenges, but this is one of the few opportunities it also presents. The Welsh Government has committed to ending new causes of HIV by 2030, we can all do our part by taking a test today.”
